What does “on-location” mean? Where will our shoot be held?
We always start by asking you what you’re looking for in your images or if you have a specific location in mind. Once we get a general idea, we can recommend many different beautiful, creative locations that will best fit your vision. The options are really limitless and we’re always discovering new and interesting places to shoot. The focus of the images is on you, and the background is less important – as long as it is simple and non-distracting. We can create unique images anywhere. It could be under a freeway overpass, on the beach, your home, in a park, wherever!
What should we wear?
The only answer here is: whatever you want! However you normally dress is how we want to capture you. Sometimes with photo session the tendency is to wear the same kinds of clothing (the classic matching white shirts & jeans outfit, etc), but our follow up question to that would be: how often do you really wear those “photo” clothes? The best thing you can wear is whatever you feel most comfortable in naturally. Our goal is to keep the photos authentic to who you are. Of course you are also welcome to bring a change of clothes too, if you’d like.
Should we bring anything else?
We may have some “prop” ideas that are specific to your session, but if there is anything else you’d like to incorporate into the photos, please let us know ahead of time.
How long does it take?
Generally, our sessions last about an hour or sometimes a little longer, depending on the location(s) and # of people.
Can you tell us what the session is like? What will we do?
The first thing to know is that each session is different & unique. Each time we shoot there is a new dynamic that happens, so each person’s experience is not the same as the last. What we can assure you of is that all of our sessions are enjoyable and relaxed, so there is no pressure on you to perform. There is never strict posing. While we may sometimes have different photo ideas, the best images are the ones that come naturally during your interactions with others or your environment. A common response we hear after our sessions is: “that was so much fun!”
What is your style?
We like to think of it as “spontaneous photojournalistic experiential adventure photography”, but the best way to familiarize yourself with our style is to take a look at our galleries as well as our most recent work on our blog.
How long will it be until we get to see the photos?
Your first set of proofing images will be available for you to view online in 1-2 weeks. Once you’ve chosen your favorites, it will take us 7-10 days to apply the finishing artistic touches and post them in and online gallery for you to order professional prints from. At this time we’ll also mail out the CD/DVD of proofing images to you.
How long do product orders take?
Most of our print and product orders have quick turnaround times. For most print orders, you can expect to have them in 7-10 days. Our coffee table storybooks take longer (2-3 weeks) to account for extra design & production time.
